"mom, mom, mom! okay, okay, i'll be sure to call, i promise! just relax!" rolling her eyes, she laughed as she bade goodbye to her mother, who was determined to keep her on the phone and continually nag her on things, such as showers and making sure she had enough clothes, money, all those things. shaking her head, she hung up the pay phone she was standing at as she waited for a bus to come. she was really excited; she was heading to the lake. why, you would ask? well, mitchell had called her earlier and said that he wanted to get together that day, and he thought the lake would be perfect. well, she wasn't sure if she thought the same, but hey, it was the lake, it was actually kind of sweet, in her mind. she was looking forward to this, she really was. she hadn't seen mitchell since the week before school started. course, there was a reason for that..
see, she hadnt' really seen him since a week before school started because she'd been afraid to. ever since she'd found out she was pregnant, she'd pretty much avoided him. the only reason that she'd seen him the week earlier was because her mom had invited him over for dinner. it hadn't been bad at all or anything; she was sure that she acted as hyper as she always was. she was just... waiting for a chance to tell him. the right time, anyways. she didn't know when to tell him.. this just wasn't a great time at all. at least, not this date. she'd find some time... hopefully soon.
she zoned out of her thoughts as she heard the familiar sound of a bus pulling up to the stop. pulling her hood off her head, she walked on, putting in the correct amount of change in. waving at the bus driver, she found a seat somewhere in the middle of the bus. making herself comfy, she leaned back as she pulled out her iPod from her jeans pocket. taking the earbuds and shoving them into her ear, she looked out the window, making sure she didn't zone out so she missed her stop. it'd happened before. she'd ended up in a city that ... wasn't sandusky. it had been kind of scary, but it was fine when she finally found out where she was.. .though she did end up running into a hobo... but he was nice, in her mind! well, she hadn't seen mister hobo since, so she couldn't do much about it anymore. that was then, this was now. and now was leading her to the lake... surprisingly, she rarely went there. well, she had when she was younger, but lately, she hadn't stepped a foot near that lake. she wondered if it still looked the same.. she wondered if that boat company that used to be there was still there. she used to love riding on one of those canoes. she was always somewhat good with them.
staring out the window, she felt herself smiling as the bus ride went on. she was honestly happy right now. sure, being pregnant and not telling your boyfriend... that wasn't what was making her happy, but just... having mitchell. he was pretty amazing to her. she felt awful that she was lying to him. well, it wasn't really lying... it was lying by default. ... could that be counted as lying? she wasn't sure at all. she just didn't want to upset him at all. she didn't think his girlfriend that was a year younger than him being pregnant would be something that he enjoyed. she frowned, thinking about how much she was thinking about this. she didn't like it.
jumping up suddenly, she pulled the string above her head to let the driver know that her stop was there. crap, she almost missed it.. again. she rolled her eyes at how stupid she was being. her mind seemed to be all over the place lately. thanking the driver, she got off the bus, pulling her hood up again as she walked towards the lake, she was thankful that at least it had stopped raining? pulling down her hood, she shook her red hair out of her eyes as she walked towards the lake. looking up, she pulled the headphones out of her ears as she pulled her phone out of her pocket. strategically switching the two, she looked at the text message he'd sent her earlier, telling her to meet him at the dock.
glancing towards the dock, she saw... no one. frowning slightly, she stood on the dock, her hands in her pockets, looking around, as though he was going to fly out from behind two trees. she laughed at our sometimes she just thought these stupid thoughts. texting him quickly, asking him where was he, she put her phone away before just staring out at the lake. "it's pretty.." she said to no one in particular. she loved looking out at the lake. sure, the view was better a little later on at night... what time was it? she glanced down at her wristwatch, seeing that it was about seven. well, the sun would probably set in a little while, so.. she wouldn't have to wait that long for a gorgeous view... she just wondered how long she'd have to wait for a gorgeous guy.

a better version of me, for you. ------------------------------------------------------------- around five thirty, mitch arrived at the scene. he parked his orange pick up truck in one of the nearby parking lots, jumping out of it with hardly a sound. black converse thoughtlessly buried themselves into the gravel as he glanced back into the vehicle. spying a slip of paper on the passenger's seat, he lunged inside, reaching across the distance to snatch it up. he stared at it for a moment before folding it in half, then in fourths, then in eighths, then slipping it into his back pocket. softly shutting the door, he patted the truck before making his way around back. that thing had been his since that day he turned sixteen. as soon as humanly possible, he had attained a permit, then a license, so that he could finally drive himself around instead of waiting on his parents hand and foot. that way, he was able to pick up and drive rylee around-- it felt odd knowing that he wasn't going to bring her to the lake. some would think it rude, to make your date get their own ride, but he didn't think too much of it. rylee was a big girl, she could handle herself. that much was clear, and that was one of the things mitch loved about her. she wasn't just some doll that you carry around and show off, hell no. she was real. mitch knew her well enough to be sure that she wouldn't be offended, and anyway. it was probably spiking her curiosity.
slowly letting down the tail gate, making sure it wouldn't slam, mitch eyed the contents of his truck bed. raising a hand to bury it in his hair and scratch the back of his head, he considered his plan. and yes, he did have a plan. what guy doesn't? this was going to have to be good, for several reasons, the first of which being that they were at a lake. as far as mitch was concerned, lakes were awesome. you could go fishing, swimming, camping, hunting, exploring, and pretty much anything else you wanted to do at a lake. but for ry, he wasn't so sure if she'd like it. yeah, she would definitely go along with it, and smile and laugh and all, and he knew that she'd enjoy it whether or not there were pestering gnats around them.. but he was still afraid she wouldn't like it. the second reason this date had to be perfect was, well, because rylee hadn't been exactly wanted him around lately. and he couldn't figure out why. mitch had no one to blame for himself, and as logical as the boy was, he still couldn't come up with a reason for this rift between them other than the fact that she was simply falling out of love with him. he couldn't let that happen, no way, no how. there was a third reason, too, but he wasn't really considering it at the moment. he had been with rylee before, and he couldn't honestly say he didn't want to do it again. but as much as he wanted that, it still wasn't the main purpose of this event. no, he wanted rylee to love him much more than he wanted sex. he needed love. he could live without sex for another year or two.
then again, he could be overreacting. after all, it had only been a week or two (according to mitch, exactly thirteen days) since they had actually had the chance to hang out. that would have been fine, if one of them had been on vacation, if it hadn't been summer. but it had been summer, and neither of them were on vacation, and mitch knew that rylee was available, hah! he knew that she had nothing better to do. just thinking about it made his heart sink. what could he do? he could fix it. he could make her fall in love again. he could give her no choice. and that was exactly what he was going to do. he lifted himself onto the tail gate, then stood and started shifting through the multiple items neatly tied down and padded with blankets as to keep them quiet. there was a guitar case there, among other things. grabbing several somethings by the handles, he bit his lip, knowing that all he had to do was not mess things up. ... no, that was a lie. mitch's job was to not mess anything up and make rylee fall in love with him again. yeah, he was feeling the pressure. .... he lifted his eyes to the sky. god, it had better not rain. the clouds looked to be in a daring mood today, and dear god. if the weather had any sense, it would hold on until tomorrow.
an hour later found him on the dock, the very dock he had told ry to meet him at in an earlier text message. he had hidden several bug repellents around the area, taking care to make them not as visible they could be. he also hid a few other things, and it was just six thirty as of... now. mitch raised his gaze from the watch on his hand, looking out across the water. and for a moment, he felt peaceful. a small smile tugged at his mouth. this would work, he knew it.
through the trees, he saw a bus pass by on the nearby road. that had to be rylee's ride. jumping off his tail gate with his guitar case in hand, mitchell reviewed the contents of the truck-- he definitely had everything. tugging at his hoodie, he started to walk toward the dock. it was a good minute away, and by the time he got there he just hardly heard her words. he breathed, a little less stressful than before. shoving his hands in his front pockets, he walked up behind her, making sure to scruff his converse against the wooden dock to make sure she could hear him coming. people said he 'crept up' on them, even when he didn't try, so naturally a normal approach would have to be unnatural for mitch. " isn't it? " he murmured a response to her musing, just loud enough for her to hear. with a grin he reached his arms out for her, swallowing her small form in a bear hugfor hardly a second before pulling back, arms still around her shoulders. " haven't seen you in a while. " lifting his eyebrows, his mouth twisted over to the side as he made a face. tilting his head to the side, he stole a kiss from her. jesus christ, he missed her so badly. ------------------------------------------------------------- TAG rylee the adora // rini <3 WORD COUNT one one one cinco?! where was he? rylee was actually anxious now. she didn't know what he wanted... why he'd told her meet him exactly ont he dock at seven exactly. sure, it was only a few minutes past seven, but she was the tiniest bit antsy whenever she was waiting for something. or in this case, someone. looking down at her watch, she rocked on the balls of her heels, glancing around at the lake. god, it really did look nice. at least he told her to meet somewhere extremely beautiful. ugh, he made this extremely difficult. he was just too good. how the heck was she supposed to hide this from him if he was go ing to go around being sweet and nice all the time? it wasn't going to work ... but she didn't want to kill him sweet and nice and good side with this.. it wasn't worth it. not yet, anyways. maybe not ever.. depending on how she handled the situation. oh well. she'd think about that when the time came.
"where is he.." she was about to turn around, maybe head back and wait another hour for the next bus to come by. but she didn't. she heard his voice behind her, and she still found it shocking, even though she'd heard the footsteps behind her. she'd just assumed... well, she wasn't too sure what she'd assumed. all she knew now was that he was there. and it made her smile, even if he couldn't see her face yet. she was about to turn around, but he caught her in a hug, and she couldn't help but laugh. she couldn't exactly give him a hug in their current position, but she at least held onto his hand, since his arms were still wrapped around her. she turned around slightly ( more like turned her head slightly ) and looked up at him. hearing him say he hadn't seen her in a while, she nodded, but before she could say anything, she felt him give her a quick kiss, and she smiled. why did he have to be so cute?
"i know! but it's great to see you." smiling, she stood on her tiptoes, pressing her lips against his for longer than he did. pulling back, she raised an eyebrow at him. "so, why did you want me to meet you here?" she tilted her head curiously at him, her eyebrow raised again, but a smile on her face. darn, the boy was just too amazingly sweet. sure, there honestly wasn't too much to do at a lake... besides, you know, swimming, or fishing, or boating, or... something like that? but he didn't tell her to bring anything like that, and she didn't see fishing rods.. or even the shack that usually sold them. the place where they were was pretty much...empty. "what are we doing? there's like.. nothing here!" she laughed slightly as she said it, but she didn't know what else to say. the boy honestly had her stunned. this was cute, it really was. it was sudden too. well... she understood why; they hadn't seen each other for... honestly, weeks? almost two weeks since the last time they'd seen each other.
turning around, she gave him a hug of her own. it just felt really good right now. her face was pressed against his chest, and she liked it. he smelled the same; the same great smell that she'd smelled on him during the summer. she looked up at him, smilng at him. she was about to say something when she heard someone walking past. looking up and towards the left, she saw an old man walking his dog. smiling at the puppy, she waved at the old man before turning back to mitchell. "tell me, come on! what are we doing here?" she smiled at him, patience running thin. she was just too excited. she wanted to know what he had planned.

a better version of me, for you. ------------------------------------------------------------- ry made mitch happy, no buts about it. just seeing her there, standing on the dock was like a dream come true. it had been too long since they last seen each other-- yeah, there was texting, and yeah, there was internet. but mitch wasn't one to sit at a computer and, well, texting was never the same as being face to face. mitch could never seem to get across exactly what he wanted to say, and when he tried to text, it just made it harder. there seemed to be no way to clarify, no way to prove that the words on the screen were more than just words on a screen. how could he possibly show her? sure, ry could infer what he meant, imagine his tone, suspect his meaning. and out of the rest of them, ry was definitely the most capable to do that, but. mitch still hated it. but he did try, he did take the time to thumb out complete words and logical phrases. it was better than no conversation at all, that much was for sure. .. it was also better than being invited over by ry's mother for dinner. mitch had to wipe out that thought before it lingered for too long; it unnerved him that her mother would make more effort to bring them together than ry herself would. maybe that wasn't the case, though. maybe he was just judging. it didn't matter now, though. he wouldn't bring that up tonight.
as he came up behind her, mitch tried his best to let her know he was there. he hated knowing that he scared her, but hey. rylee should know mitch by now-- she should know how quiet he could be. hearing her mutter 'where is he..' mitch smiled a little. the kid had pretty right-on timing, if he did say so himself. selectively ignoring her question, he agreed aloud on her opinion. without giving her much of a chance to twist her body around and face him, mitch wrapped his arms around her. he hugged her tight-- he didn't want to let go, not for anything. he could feel her hands on his arms, and he closed his eyes for just a second. why couldn't they be like this forever? figuring that he was suffocating her, mitch forced himself to loosen his hold. she turned her head to look at him, and a funny feeling cut into the back of his throat. why didn't she want to be with him? he brought up the obvious, stating that he hadn't seen her in a while. it meant a mixture of things, from 'i missed you' to 'we need to see each other more often.' but what he really wanted to know was why, why hadn't they seen each other lately?
and of course, ry didn't think much of it. he didn't expect her to. he couldn't blame her-- he didn't always understand what she was trying to say, either. he took her 'i know.' as an apology, and let the quietest smirk take over his features. out of the blue, she kissed him again, for longer, and his lips parted in the slightest. managing to mask a grin, he looked down his nose at her, feigning superiority. " because it's someplace different. " hah, as if that actually answered her question. he never truely answered her questions; so ry couldn't possibly be expecting something direct from him. " nothing?! there's plenty here, just, look around. tree. " he raised an arm to point at a nearby oak. " water. " his target shifted to the lake. " grass, sand, flowers, air.. me, you. " his eyes latched back onto hers. as far as he was concerned, everything was here. but he could understand why she would say that-- she was probably wondering what they were going to do. satisfaction clicked inside his head; he had her exactly where he wanted.
he lifted his arms up for a millisecond so that ry could turn around. the instant she was facing him, he hugged her again, and she hugged him. standing there with a clear view of the gorgeous lake, he couldn't feel anything outside of ry's face buried into his chest and her arms around his body. pressing his closed mouth against her head, he wondered if this would ever end. not just this moment, but. them. together. no good thing lasted forever, right? this would, though. it had to. he clenched his jaw and pulled back as she shifted, meeting his eyes and opening her mouth as if to say something. but then she was distracted.. would mitch have to look away? he didn't want to. but yeah, he had to. following her stare, he sighted the old man and his puppy. " and you said there was nothing here, " he accused jokingly as she waved to the man. ry was so good, she'd do something like that, just wave to a complete stranger just because they looked nice. no wonder mitch was a better person.
she asked him yet again what they were doing, and he grinned. wouldn't she like to know. " what, it's like you're expecting some violinist to start playing and some butler to appear to bring us our five star meal. " his eyes narrowed. " i mean, what exactly do you think i'm capable of? " a faint smile showed through his eyes. ry really did expect a lot from him, and he wouldn't have it any other way. " what, come on. " he took her hand. " just, relax. sit with me. " walking her over to the end of the dock, mitch sat down on the edge, letting his converse hang over the reflective lake beneath them. he looked out, across the water, silent for a minute or two. " do you believe in the lochness monster? if so, why. if not, then why not. " he turned to look at her in all seriousness, even though he was just asking for laughs. placing his hands on the wooden planks they were sitting on, he looked up at the sky, then looked back at rylee. " personally, i don't think he does. it's probably just a bunch of made up stories and fake photos. " a smirk tugged at his mouth. " ... probably. she knew that he probably was curious as to why they hadn't spent too much time together in the past few weeks. she just couldn't come right out and tell him. "i'm pregnant" wasn't exactly the best thing to tell your boyfriend when you see him for the first time in a few weeks. she pushed those words to the back of mind as she saw a hint of a grin forming. he masked it pretty well, but she'd seen his face for so long she could tell when he was trying to hide something. hearing him, she smiled, actually liking the answer for some reason. he never really answered her straight forward; he always made her think with his answers. that was something that she admired about him. sure, a lot of people wouldn't be happy and would want him to just tell him to be straight up and direct. but rylee loved that about him for some reason not many people actually spoke to her, trying to make her think. they thought that since she was a sophomore, she wasn't capable of too much thinking or something like that, but it wasn't too true at all. she followed his arm as he pointed to some random tree, and she smiled, giggling slightly. she watched his arm moving towards the lake, and she pretended to move her head down to the grass, the sand, the flowers, the sky, all of that as he said them. hearing his last two words, she smiled, looking at him before looking down at herself before looking back up at him. she pressed her lips against his softly. damn, she missed him more than she thought she would have. "hm... when you put it that way, this place sounds pretty amazing."
feeling his head on hers as she buried her face in his chest, she smiled, even though he probably couldn't see it. she honestly did care for the boy, which, many would think wasn't saying much, since he was her first actual boyfriend. they would say that they were both too young to really feel anything too deep for each other, or that they would fall apart before they could get any closer than they are. rylee wanted to disagree with that statement so much, but there was one nagging though in her mind; how he would react to her being pregnant. that was the thing she just couldn't explain to him. the day she'd found out, she'd taken three tests in the same day. she'd hid in her house, drank over ten water bottles and hid in the bathroom for a majority of the afternoon, trying not to believe it. but she just couldn't. the little plus sign that'd stared back at her was making her scared. how the hell could she be pregnant at sixteen? she didn't want to be the Juno of bristol high. ever since the first day, she'd contemplated what she could do; she could've done what was done in the movie, which was give the baby away to a trusting family. but she was afraid of ... well, actually having it. she wasn't ready to go through the nine months. so she knew she was going to do one thing; get an abortion. after weeks of thought, she was certain on that thought. she just... wasn't too sure how to tell this to him at all.
as she pulled away, she caught sight of the old man and his dog. she was always like that, whether she was happy, sad, depressed, or whatever she was feeling, she would always wave to them. it was just something that she did. she turned back to mitch, staring up at him. as she heard his statement, she grinned, laughing. "that was before a human life.... and a dog life, besides ours, came." she grinned at him, keeping herself deliberately close to him. she doubted she wanted to pull away anytime soon. but she honestly did to know what the heck they were going to do! she was too curious for her own good at times. hearing his accusation, she looked down, biting her lip and trying not to laugh. glancing up, she saw that look in his eyes that proved to her that he wasn't mad or anything about how she expected better of him. she honestly did. he was too good for her. hell, he was older than her, way more mature, sure, maybe not too friendly in other people’s minds, but extremely lovable and sweet in her mind. whatever he said and did to and with her, it was always sweet. "you are capable of a lot of things. is that a good answer?" she grinned an innocent grin at him as he told her to come on. feeling him take her hand, she followed him along as they walked towards the dock. watching him as he made himself comfortable on the end of the dock. sitting herself down next to him, she stared out across the lake with him, not saying too much. she wasn't too sure on what to say yet, so she figured keeping quiet would do. but hearing his question, she raised an eyebrow as she turned her head to him. she didn't say anything at all yet, she was waiting to see if he had anything else to add. hearing him, she looked up across the lake, a smile tugging at her mouth. leaning back slightly, she placed her hands on the dock so that they were overtop of his. leaning against his slightly, she swung her small legs back and forth as they dangled off the edge of the dock.
"hmm... i don't know. why would people want to make up a loch ness monster? i mean, no one goes swimming in that lake anyways, there wouldn't really be a need to make up a monster." though she sounded serious, there was the tiniest hint of a teasing tone in her voice. she knew that there was no way he was serious; she'd known him long enough to realize this. "though maybe someone was just bored one day and thought 'hey, i wanna make a monster that could make people afraid to go swimming in this lake!' and he decided to create Nessie. who knows?" she shrugged, looking up at him from her position. her head was rested against his arm. "the sunset looks amazing, doesn't it?" she pointed straight ahead with her free hand, towards the sunset. it was a perfect sunset, reflected across the surface of the lake. "i think it's pretty amazing..." snuggling closer, she stared out across the lake. "thank you for bringing me. there's not much, but... it's still really pretty."

a better version of me, for you. ------------------------------------------------------------- mitch didn't get along well with idiots. it just didn't happen, because either the idiot would avoid mitchell, or mitch would avoid the idiot. either way, it worked out alright for both of them. and when (and if) they were forced to collide, he would typically clam up and, if prevoked, become a know-it-all. unfortunately, mitch considered a lot of people to be idiots. it's no wonder he had so few friends, really. some people think it would be utterly impossible for him to have any, much less connor davis as a friend. but if you really looked at it, connor and mitch had plenty in common-- they both found a large percent of the population to be intolerable and were in love with their girlfriends. outside of drinking and partying, the main real difference between them was that mitch kept things to himself for the most part; he was much quieter than connor, who was much more badass about everything. and then there was rylee, who was obviously more than just a friend, but she was a friend all the same. she could decipher him like no other; she could probably see that he was hiding a smirk. and that was one of the reasons mitch loved her so much and couldn't imagine being with anyone else. if he didn't have her.. he probably wouldn't have anybody. maybe eventually he would, but. mitch found his identity in being rylee's boyfriend, and without her he'd be lost, at the very minimum.
pointing out the nearby tree, out of the corner of his eye he was aware of rylee following his gesture. a warm feeling took him as he heard her giggle slightly, it felt good to know that he made her smile. her amusement kept him going, and he pointed out a few other objects before allowing his eyes to fall on her as he mentioned her. she was looking at him, then she looked at herself, then back at him and she kissed him. mitch smiled through it, and his hands landed lightly on her hips. hearing her words, he grinned a little wider. yeah, it was amazing. it felt good to hug her; yeah it was the same as hugging an freshman but it wasn't, it was rylee. mitch always wondered how she managed to have such a big voice and personality, and still be in that tiny body of hers. as she noticed their company, mitch took a few moments longer to look at rylee before tearing his eyes away to follow her gaze. who else but her would care about strangers like she did? he didn't see the man wave back, but he was sure that it didn't really matter to rylee. he smiled, grateful that he was this close to someone this spectacular. noticing that she refused to back too far away from him, he did the same, standing with his feet outside hers and his hands on her hips. and then she backed up, his smile faded by three notches. couldn't she just stay with him, for a minute? her abandonment was forgotten as she smiled and looked down, god, she was so pretty.
his harsh words had a kind twist, "habla aqui." ------------------------------------------------------------- TAG rylee the adora // rini <3 WORD COUNT 251. LYRICS up and up by relient k.
